What do you do at VCC?
I oversee all of the Children’s Ministries at Vineyard Community Church. I have the honor of creating an environment that is safe, fun, and equipped with teachers and volunteers who share the love of Jesus with the children each Sunday.
Tell about your family:
Seventeen years ago, I married my high school sweetheart, Ryan, and since then have been blessed with five boys - Caleb, Deron, Simon, Jonas, and Isaac. Whether homeschooling or attending various sports outings, these guys keep us busy and entertained!
What do you like to do for fun?
More than anything I enjoy being with all my boys. We especially love outdoor activities like snowboarding, water sports, and even raising goats. When I’m not hanging out with my guys, I like to read, design & decorate spaces, and cut & color hair.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. It is best known for its booming oil business and obsession with high school football. The popular book, movie, and TV series “Friday Night Lights” were all based on the high school I attended – Permian High School. After graduation, I moved to Lubbock, Texas to attend the College of Education at Texas Tech University. Ryan and I were married in college and moved to the DFW metroplex after graduation.
What kept you in Texas?
Texas is the only home I’ve ever known, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! In 2004, we moved to North Texas for Ryan to begin his career in public accounting. I was an elementary school teacher at the time and continued teaching until our first child was born.
What is your favorite thing about Texas?
My favorite thing about Texas would have to be the southern hospitality and genuine character of the people who live here. Not only are the people wonderful, but the vast and varied landscape is beautiful and feels like home to me!
